Each issue will include articles about CCI projects that:

  • feature current developments in conservation and scientific research and how they impact our community
  • identify and discuss the latest trends in conservation
  • offer forward thinking on the role and importance of conservation within the museum environment and society

Application Deadline for Conservation Treatment Services: October 15, 2009

CCI is now accepting requests for conservation treatment of furniture, objects (including industrial, ethnographic, and historical objects), and photographic materials for the April 2010 - March 2011 fiscal year. We invite Canadian museum clients to apply for these services using the Conservation and Restoration Treatments Request Form available in the e-Services section of our Web site. All applications will be assessed and results announced by early December 2009.

New publication — TB #29 Combatting Pests of Cultural Property
Pests can be very destructive to both the aesthetic elements and the structural integrity of collections, historic buildings, and objects. This Technical Bulletin discusses the basic pests of collections, and presents a structured approach to pest reduction activities. A survey method with remediation activities appropriate to pest infestation findings is also provided.
