Learning Opportunities

CCI's training mandate is to disseminate conservation and conservation science information to the conservation and heritage communities, thereby contributing to the improved preservation and conservation of collections and related materials of cultural/historical significance throughout Canada and the world.
CCI's Learning and Development Officer, Julie Stevenson, is available to help with all your Learning Opportunities needs. She can be reached by telephone at 613 998-3721 ext. 114 or 1-866-998-3721 or by e-mail at cci-icc_edu@pch.gc.ca.
Outreach Program
CCI offers workshops for heritage organizations and associations both within Canada and internationally. Our goal is to help institutions build capacity in preserving and conserving the objects in their collections.
Internships
The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) offers two types of internships that provide learning opportunities for the conservation community in Canada and abroad. All interns are involved in the everyday working life at CCI. They actively contribute to both the formulation and implementation of conservation standards, thereby gaining in-depth knowledge of collection needs. They are exposed to a variety of conservation research and treatment projects within the interdisciplinary environment of CCI. They have access to the CCI library (an invaluable resource tool for conservation research) and also have the opportunity to attend practice talks and conferences.

Types of Internships
Paid Post-Graduate Internships
These are one-year internships for Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who have recently (within the last 5 years) completed a degree program from a recognized university or a two-year diploma program from a recognized post-secondary college in a specialization related to conservation.
Unpaid Internships
These internships can range in duration from six weeks to one year, and are open to individuals from all countries (note that preference will be given to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants). Applicants can be currently enrolled in post-secondary programming leading to a diploma or degree in conservation, science, or a relevant field or have completed appropriate studies within the last five years.
Advanced Professional Development
CCI offers advanced professional development courses for conservation professionals working in the Canadian or international heritage community.
Please check this space periodically for opportunities to register for our upcoming courses or sign up to receive CCI e-News.
